Bone grafting

Bone grafting

After losing a tooth, the bone begins to shrink, and this will continue with time. If you choose to replace that tooth with an implant, sometimes there is not enough bone volume to place that implant. Bone grafting may be required in order to build-up bone volume.

If you have not yet lost your tooth, but your dentist has recommended the tooth to be extracted, we may recommend socket grafting, also known as ridge preservation. Sometimes grafting done at the same time of extraction is recommended to decrease the amount of bone volume that may be lost. Make an appointment with Dr. Gibb to see if this is indicated in your case.
